Migraines and Indian head massage

having a husband who suffers from migraines, I have since I qualified been looking in to the various blogs, studies and anything else I can find on line to do with Indian head massage and migraines. I felt sure that there must be something that I can do to aide in the relief of his symptoms.

After lots of reading it has become apparent that although Indian head massage is not a cure for migraines it can be used to aide in the prevention of a migraine.

Symptoms which have been found to be associated with migraines are

  • Tension in the upper body
  • Stresses of daily life
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Eye strain

These symptoms can all be allievaited with an Indian head massage.

Indian head massage works on the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck , scalp and face. The application of gentle massage techniques  to these areas has been found to relieve stress and bring about relaxation, feelings of well being and increased energy in a person.

Having had Indian head massages I can attest to this feeling of relaxation and increased energy. At the beginning of the massage I felt tense but as the massage progressed I remember feeling relaxed and out of the zone. When the therapist had finished it was like waking up. I felt weightless for a few moments which is testament to how relaxed I felt.

So Back to migraines it seems the general consensus is that Indian head massage is not a cure for migraines but can be used for prevention.

I am going to test this theory and put my skills to use. It will be a case study Of sorts  to better understand for my self the effects of Indian head massage on a particular condition. Hopefully the outcome will be that Indian head massage benefits my husband and has a marked effect on the symptoms associated with migraines.

My husband will have an Indian head massage once a week.
